Baby Makes 4!!
Deakin Devereaux Anderson made his appearance at 7:19pm Friday, November 14, 2014.
His appearance was a scheduled "Eviction" as I called it. I had called on November 7th and said that we needed to induce because I was having such bad, BAD, back aches. It felt horrible (the point when I was walking it felt as though I was trying to keep a coin between my buttcheeks). I was limping and couldn't pick up anything (including Isla--she didn't understand). As I was on the phone with our nurse, the days we had previously talked about would have been November 19th (2 days before my due date) or the day after my due date November 22nd. That just seemed too long to wait with such and discomfort and if I were to wait I would just have "suffered" until he decided to come on his own. But we were able to schedule for November 14th. I would be exactly 39 weeks. We were supposed to be at the hospital at 7:30am and I could eat before we went in (which is normally unheard of)...of course I wasn't hungry.
Well, Maceo and I strolled into the hospital at 8:15 (our doctor said we could be there anywhere between 7:30 and 8:30 because she would be there around that time too). We checked in and then waited. I had been at a 2 dilation for a few weeks and hadn't changed so they said we would pitosin. 9:30 was the scheduled dosing. As well as breaking my water. The doctor had ruptured the membrane and there wasn't much liquid that came out.
Maceo asked how long was acceptable for him to be gone before "things start happening". The nurse looked at him and said normally it takes half the time that your first child's labor took. My labor with Isla was about 7 hours so he would have about 3.5 hours. An hour later he had called to see how things were going and if he could have another hour. Nothing had really changed so it was fine (besides being alone). An hour after that he called and asked again, and he needed another hour...now I was starting to get a little perturbed but what could I do....I couldn't leave the hospital. So whatever.
He called to see if I wanted anything to eat, which was sweet, but after you are checked in to the hospital you are not allowed to eat anything....water and ice. I had received the epidural and it wasn't working as well. The doctor had come in a few other times and re-ruptured my membrane (broke my water roughly 4 times). Apparently it was very thick. After "breathing thru" some contractions that the nurse had said with the epidural I shouldn't be doing the guy who gave my epidural came in to try a medication first before having to re-epidural me. The medication was ok, I threw up (projectile water vomit) I had told my nurse I felt like I was going to throw up...and sure enough. I did end up having to have my epidural taken our and have a new one put in. The second one helped, more than the first, but it was still not "helping" like it should have.
The doctor came in and we knew that she was scheduled to be there until 6:30pm because she had her children's concert. So we switched doctors (as she was leaving she said it would probably be 10 minutes for both she and my luck. My contractions were about 2 minutes apart for a long time. The nurses were doing their shift switch and it was about 7:10. I commented that it felt like I was going to poop. I am such a lady. They called for the doctor and had checked my dilation I was an 8-9 they said to breath thru the contractions and not to push. I had said I wasn't pushing, he was. The doctor came just in time (she gave me the go to push) I pushed 1 1/2 times and Deakin was out!
The whole 6 lbs 9 oz of him. Everyone thought from the pain and how I was saying my stomach was and how I felt as though it were going to burst open that he was going to be a larger baby. Instead he was smaller than his sister was when she was born (although, she had an extra week and a half longer to cook).
Ironically after Deakin was "out" I was asked how I felt. I told the doctor I felt as if I could run a marathon (and I am not a runner).
(will finish later--just trying to catch up)

"D"
Well, we have 60 days left until this little guy's due date. And the suspense is fun but we have decided to tell our little secret. The secret that really we have only known for a week....
"D's" name:
"D's" name:
Deakin Devereaux Anderson
The background behind Mr. Deakin's name, was as I told Maceo, how we would figure out "D's" name. I told him we had this list of names and it would be some name that one of us would say to the other and it would be the one. We had our list of names and would randomly "vote" on the names that we liked the best. Then one night, sure enough, Maceo after listening to the same names for a while said...."What about Deacon?" I said "YES!" but I said that the spelling would have to be different. So, we played with the spellings and came to love D-E-A-K-I-N.
Deakin \de(a)-kin\ as a boy's name has the meaning "dusty one; servant; messenger" and is a variant of Deacon (Greek): a deacon is a ministerial assistant in a Christian congregation.
Other spellings:
Deacon
Deakon
Deecon
Deekon

Registries for D
Maceo, Isla and I had a busy day of registering for "D". We registered at Buy Buy Baby and at Babies R Us. We are planning on also registering at Target, but we just ran out of husband and sister shopping tolerance.
We figured we should set something up just incase someone wanted to know what we wanted or needed. It was fun to scan the items and discuss if we thought a certain item would come in handy.
Buy Buy Baby ( Ignore the fact that the lady put our due date as the 12th....it is the 21st)
Babies R Us
We finished Target the following the weekend...
Target
(Yes, there is a mini fridge--Maceo and I were always talking about how it would have been nice to have a fridge for Isla when she was little to be able to freeze her milk or keep her bottles close. Because when you are more than half asleep trying to get things ready-something closer would have been nicer....SO, why not try for "D" since they share a room. We can have both of their Milks, etc. in it).

So, it's been a while.....
A couple of months have passed since the last post...and update for this blog....Sorry. Life happens and you sometimes do not have the time (especially with a toddler).
August was a busy month for us Andersons.
My B.I.G. 3-0. Yikes!! I couldn't celebrate like most celebrate but we still celebrated in the best way we could. Maceo took me for a hair cut (I needed some serious tender loving care of the hair). I added my bangs back and contemplated putting my layers back but just took it to one length. My mother purchased my favorite Shampoo and Conditioner. Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Shampoo and the Detangler Conditioner. With my new do and products my hair has been happy!
Maceo had a friend come from California (I call him his girl friend). Long story... They celebrated his birthday.
Isla had gotten sick shortly after Maceo's Birthday. It was a HELL of a sickness. She was retracting when she was breathing. Turns out she has RAD- Reactive Airway Disease and URI- Upper Respiratory Infection and acute serous otitis media (bilateral) aka collection of fluid in middle ear of the right ear. It was a joy (especially since she was teething at the same time). I was told if we hadn't have gotten Isla in when we did she would have been heading to the ER, for how bad she was. I said well, I was working with what they had available for the doctor's office openings. We had made it home after 3 hours. I was worn out, but Isla was breathing "better" we did 2 treatments of albuterol at the doctor's office. We still had some --we still had some wheezes and crackles but we had improved air entry. We also were prescribed we will be Prednisolone and the use of Tylenol. She didn't have much of an appetite. She had been refusing fluids, and after the treatments she was starting to take them better. It took a few weeks but she had gotten better and I was very happy when she was feeling more like herself again.
Isla had her last week at Generation Next in Ankeny. It was bittersweet, but it was nice the next week she would be starting at Generation Next in Johnston (the one I work at). It has been a time saver in the mornings. And extremely nice to see her throughout the day. She waves and blows me kisses as I do to her. And somedays (ok, almost everyday) she will come to my gate to give me real kisses. It is the best to be able to watch her as she plays with her friends as we are outside with her friends at the same time. I made her a dress for her to wear during her first week (I was thinking about having her wear it on her first day, but I wanted to do some finishing touches before I sent her to school with it). She was adorable!!!!
We had a bat in our house one night. Maceo was able to coax it out with some careful thought. It was cute, but I am sure that Isla, myself (unborn child) and Maceo probably shouldn't be around it (or it's feces). It must have come in when I had let Charlie out for "night night potty" the last time he goes out before we all go to sleep. It had to have flown through our house to get to our stairwell. Maceo "ran" across the little bat as he was doing something. It was hanging off of the baby gate we have at the top of the stairs. We shut the bathroom door and kitchen door so it was "trapped" in the basement/stairwell. He went after it to help get it out of the house. As he was trying to get it to fly out of the house it flew towards him making the bat screech. I am sure it was scary, but Maceo yelled "Wrong way Bro!" (Sorry, but I couldn't stop laughing-I couldn't see anything but still hilarious!!!). He ended up "catching" the bat in some dirty clothes that I had thrown down the stairs, carrying it up the steps and throwing them/it out the door.
Another fun adventure we had was going to an ISU Game. IT WAS HOT!!!!! And Maceo parked all the way practically on the other side of Ames, and we WALKED!!!! I told him I was pretty sure that he was trying to walk his son out of me. Maceo's boss had given him tickets for the game. It was fun. That's about all I have to say about that, mainly because they lost.
So far, September has been fast.
Maceo put together Isla's "kitchen" she loves it. She has had it since her birthday (May). Now we are looking for pots, pans, plates, and play foods.
We had another baby appointment yesterday. Everything is fine-He is growing and so am I. Although, I haven't gained much, but I will take that-most of my gain has happened in the last month (I blame the McDonald's Fries cravings).
We will just have to see where the rest of the month takes us! But tonight Maceo had a work trip and Isla decided it was time to go to bed at 7:15 pm. So I decided to take advantage and try to update this.

Adventureland 2014
We went to Adventureland in Altoona, IA on Saturday July 26th! It was a hot, humid fun filled day!!!! We had received tickets from Maceo's Mother through her work. We also received Adventureland Money. We were very thankful for the tickets....there would be no way we would have gone with out them. Tickets are $40 a person (3 and under are free) plus $10 to park in the parking lot. Plus, food and drinks that you would want are also costly.
We did decide to park far, far, far away....because we might be walking farther, but we were only walking a few feet farther than those who paid $10 to park....but we parked for free :)
We made it to the park and wandered around to find rides that Isla and Macceo could go on...then we found one that even I could go on! Normally pregnant women are advised against riding the rides. Maceo took some pictures. Isla did great!!!!! I had warned the gentleman who was in charge of the ride that I wasn't sure how this was going to go because this was her first ride. He was wonderful because he said if I needed him to stop just to let him know. But Isla did it and was having so much fun! We were slowly making our way to Adventureland Bay...the new water park at Adventureland Park. The line was rediculous!!!! The park was packed almost too much for comfort. So, we had noticed that they had a circus and the next show was going to start in 30 minutes. We were hoping it would be a little cooler (tiny bit) because we were able to get out of the sun. Isla did well for a while then she just didn't want to sit with Maceo or myself. O we did leave....but it was fun while we were there!
Finally, we made it to Adventureland Bay. We changed Isla super fast...there were still a ton of people. Isla was l little leary of the water, and all the people......but then she decided it was a blast!!!!! She was splashing and playing until she started to get cold...although I think she would have continued playing if we didn't say she needed to take a break. We wandered around the waterpark. I tried to convince Maceo to do one of the water slides...but the lines were long and he wasn't sure on how Isla would do while waiting. Maybe he was scared? Lol.
After we were done with the bay we tried to see if we could get something to eat.
Will continue.....
(Pictures to come)

I Cubs Game 2014
We went to the I Cubs game July 12th. It was so much fun to watch Isla sitting and clapping at the game. We had received tickets from Maceo's Mother, as well as I Cubs Money that she had thru her work. It was a nice, beautiful (looked like it might rain, but didn't) kind of night. We used our I cubs Money to purchase our supper. We have decided if we do this again, that we will all just get the kid's meal... a hot dog, animal crackers and a drink for $4.75. Where as, the brat and colossal hot dog that Maceo and I had ordered we $5 each. FYI, Maceo's brat was the same size as Isla's hot dog- mine was just a tiny bit bigger, but not much. We did get to the game an hour late, not by choice .....they had no parking ANYWHERE!!! So we parked far, far, far away. But that was ok because we were able to get to the van and leave before many of the people who had parked closer.

Journal of Baby #2
Well, well, what do you know.....
Expecting Again!
And we couldn't be more thrilled. March 13, 2014 at 7:15a we found out our little family was growing once more! I had woke up periodically throughout the night to pee. As I was getting ready for work Maceo asked if I took the pregnancy test (we wanted to take 3 days before but decided to wait until closer to the missed period). I said I hadn't but wasn't sure if I had enough to pee with. I tried anyways, barely a couple of drops had to have hit the test but it was calculating. So I continued to get ready for work walking out of the bathroom brushing my teeth to get some socks. Maceo walked in the bathroom not seconds after I left to go brush his teeth he says "huh". I question with "what?" And his response calmly was "you're pregnant". I couldn't believe it "really?"...sure enough, Pregnant .
March 14th is exactly 4 weeks.
Welcome to Baby D's Journal.
Our second child will have their first name start with D. We figure it is just easier to refer to baby by D instead of A2.
March 13-March 20
How far along are you: 4 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: none so far
Maternity clothes: no but I am sure I will need the sooner than with Isla.
Stretch marks: no new marks, just my past reminisces.
Sleep: More please! I am so tired all the time....just this weekend I was able to get a lot of sleep, I am feeling more refreshed, but I know that won't last long.
Best moment this week: Finding out our family is growing once more. We have even been researching names for Baby A2.
Miss anything: nothing yet
Movement: no
Food cravings: no, unless you count water
Anything making you queasy or sick: sadly yes, almost anything I eat has been making me queasy or giving me loose stools. Apparently it is the hormone balance change....but I just need to focus on the BRAT diet, and just eat bland things (which will be hard).
Have you started to show: no
Gender: no
Labor signs: no
Symptoms: breast tenderness, tired, missed period, positive pregnancy test, loose stools
Bellybutton in/out: in
Wedding rings on/off: on, when I remember them.
Happy/Moody most of the time: happy, nothing was going to bring me off my happy mood this week.

We did a surprise drop off at Dean and Jody's for both Isla and Charlie so we could go. We slept ALL NIGHT!!!! We purchased curtains, mirrors, lamp shade, and trash cans. Anything making you queasy or sick:sometimes if I eat "too much" or if I am holding Isla too far forward...She was a HUGE help one day when I was having morning sickness. She didn't want me to put her down...It was very helpful when I was holding her on my side and puking into the toilet. I was finally able to set her down and she was trying to get into the toilet as I was puking. Nothing like trying to hold off a child as you are puking with one of your arms and legs.

Sleep: I have been having some really great deep sleep with crazy dreams!!
Best moment this week: We had our first actual baby appointment. It was supposed to be at 11, but we did not get into the room until after 12. Apparently the couple before us somehow got locked into the room we needed to go to for our Doctor. When we FINALLY got in to our room we WAITED some more. Both Dad and I had to PEE!! But we waited, and waited. The doctor knocked just in the time when Dad was going to leave to go potty. She came in and we were going to be able to listen to the heartbeat with the doppler. After trying to find the heartbeat for a minute. The doctor said we would be going across the hall when the ultrasound room was available. Luckily for us it was open right away. I was prepped for the ultrasound. And the first thing we see is my very full bladder. Then there is the uterus. AND FINALLY BABY!!!!!! One beautiful, heartbeating, active baby!!!! Possibly the scariest day I have had ever.

Movement:nothing yet
Food cravings:Chili cheese fries and dill relish
Anything making you queasy or sick: More frequent morning sickness for me this week. Mostly afternoon or at night, I won't complain. Best moment this week: Leaving on a little mini "vacation" to Omaha for the 4th. We had amazing spots to watch the fireworks, but then I had to pee and little miss Isla was getting cranky because she Was so tired. We had been in our spot for over an hour and a half.
